چکیده
Landslides are the main secondary effects of earthquakes in mountainous areas. The spatial distribution these landslides is controlled by local seismic ground motion and slope stability. While gravitational instabilities arid semi-arid environments understudied, we document triggered Sarpol Zahab earthquake (November 12, 2017, Mw7.3, Iran/Iraq border), largest event ever recorded Zagros Mountains. An original earthquake-induced landslide inventory was derived, encompassing various sizes velocities (from rapid disrupted rockfalls to slow-moving coherent landslides). This confirms low level environments. It also displays clear differences volumetric distributions landslides, having 386 limited size around epicenter, 9 giant (areas ca. 106 m2) active ancient deep-seated coseismically accelerated at locations up 180 km from epicenter. unusual distant triggering discussed interpreted as an interaction between source properties geological conditions, emphasizing key role variability short scales landslides. Finally, study documents kinematics earthquakes, opens new perspectives for studying over (~ 1–10 years) long-time 1000–10,000 periods.

Abstract Earthquakes occur at teh border of teh plates and faults, causing financial and casual damages. Teh study of earthquakes and surface deformation is useful in understanding teh mechanism of earthquakes and managing teh risks and crises of earthquakes. A fault can be specified by its geometric source parameters. In Okada’s definition, these parameters are length, width, depth, strike, di...
متن کاملLived Experiences of a Group of Students, Teachers, and Principals with the Post-Earthquake Implemented Curriculum in Sarpol-e Zahab
To learn curricular lessons from the crisis situation that followed the recent quake in the city of Sarpol-e Zahab, the lived experiences of a group of 25 students, teachers, and principals with the implemented curriculum were sought through semi-structured interviews. The questions asked the interviewees are based on the Francis Klein’s 9 curricular elements. The given answers were validated w...
متن کاملAn Investigation on the Relationship Between Self-efficacy With Spiritual Adjustment and Life Expectancy in Adult Earthquake Residents in Sarpol-e Zahab City, Iran in 2019
Background: Earthquakes are among the most natural catastrophic disasters. Adults’ response to disasters largely depends on their physical health, mobility, self-efficacy, resource, and income level. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy with spiritual adjustment and life expectancy in earthquake-stricken adults living in Sarpol-e Zahab City, Iran. M...
